Being a mother and a freelancing woman at the same time is quite a challenge for me as a first-time mommy. Working round the clock to provide the needs of my child is an undeniably tiring yet fulfilling job. It is not a walk in the park. I never thought that motherhood would be this hard. I mean, can any woman prepare herself for becoming a mother? I bet not. Yes, we have our ideas about our future responsibilities, but when we are already in the actual situation, extreme frustrations and stress start to burn us out. Nevertheless, motherhood taught me a lot of new things. It taught me to be more patient and calmer in every frustrating situation that I encounter along the way. Also, motherhood trained me to be more organized and more conscious of time management.
I work my fingers to the bone from dusk until dawn and spend the rest of the day taking care of my child. I sometimes would doze myself off while putting my kid to sleep and wake up to change her diapers. However, as time passed by, I learned to adjust my sail and grow with the flow. I have learned to juggle myself between my work and my kid.
For a year and a half, I worked as a customer service representative in a BPO company here in our city. It was my first job and my training ground on becoming a better service provider whose topmost priority is to meet and exceed the client’s expectations. Unfortunately, due to the unprecedented turn of events this 2020, our company stopped its operations. I had to leave my first job and was forced to stay at home.
Wanting to help my husband provide support to our family, I started to look for a home-based online job. I came across multitudes of online job opportunities but, what caught my interest the most was working as a virtual assistant at home. Vying to work as a virtual assistant requires skills, knowledge, and determination because of the tough competition. There are thousands of virtual assistants in the digital space who are equipped with the necessary skills and qualities for the job. I began to question myself: How am I going to stand out? How am I going to show my clients that I provide better service?
Even so, The Filipino Virtual Assistance became my silver lining. They helped me hone my skills, knowledge, and character as a potential virtual assistant. As of the moment, I am continuously cultivating my skills and nurturing my craft. Learning is a painful process. Nonetheless, I am more than willing to go the extra mile to reach my fullest potential.
